The classic rhyme 'Wheels on the Bus' is wonderfully reimagined here in this picture book salute to the motorised rickshaws that weave in and out of the bustling streets of Indian cities. There is much authentic and comic detail in the language, sights and sounds of this journey to a Diwali celebration, where rupees go 'ching ching ching' and the tuk tuk walas are liable to urge the passenger to drink chai and eat 'poppa-doppa-doms' when the way is blocked by a slow moving cow. An author's note gives an explanation of unusual words and recalls her own memorable journey in a tuk tuk that was the inspiration for this adaptation.
