This novel tells the story of Yingtao, the youngest member of the Yang family, Chinese-Americans living in Seattle. Unlike the rest of his family, Yingtao has no musical talent, but is scheduled to play in an important recital until he thinks of a way out. The story deals with themes of friendship and the experience of new immigrants in a humorous, sensitive fashion.
