One of two new titles from Firetree Press (a new enterprise from author, Verna Wilkins,
founder of Tamarind Books, pioneering publisher of multicultural titles) produced with
the input of teachers and children from several North London schools, this picture book
describes a small boy's emotions on the day of a long-awaited school trip to the seaside.
Abdi's family is from the Somali community, and as well as sandwiches, his mother includes a flat bread - anjeero - for him to share with his friends. Karen Littlewood's lovely watercolour illustrations portray a group of school children from diverse backgrounds engaged in all the
excitement and minor dramas of a school outing.
