At the outset we see the mischievous Peter enjoying a normal, happy childhood The story follows the family as they go into hiding and are then split up and face ever increasing dangers. Helen Bate's narrative and art work manage to be utterly engaging while retaining a simple style and not shying away from the difficult historical facts. A timely book that deals with issues which are profoundly relevant in today's world. The background to the story is clearly explained at the end and there is a photograph of Peter as he is now with his children and grandchildren
